Spotlight on BANDIT

Bandit will be 19 years young in May this year, he's a bay roan quarter horse.

Lauren came to own Bandit after she had to put her heart horse down due to colic. That precious mare was the first horse that was all hers and that she had bought with her own money from her uncle. She was afraid to ask him for help in finding another horse as she was worried that he was going to be mad at her that something tragic and beyond my control happened. She didn’t know that this was an unfortunate circumstance beyond her control as she was young at the time.

She spent a lot of time trying horses but still feeling like something was missing. She finally reached out to her uncle and asked him if he knew of anyone selling a horse that would fit her. He told her to come to the barn as his buddy had a 6 year old that they were using as a turn back horse (the horse that keeps the cow in line for the person practicing cutting), he made a bit of money in the cutting pen but wasn't up to the standards of what his friend was looking for. Her Uncle told her "he's a good little horse, kinda ugly though, he's got a big head". Well, she saw Bandit standing there big head and all and fell in love! She rode him for about a month before my uncle came up and said “you better buy that horse already” so she did, and he's been the best little horse for 13 years. Lauren says “I even feel like he grew into his head a bit!”

Lauren tells us some interesting tidbits about Bandit: - since he was a ranch horse for the first 6 years of life he didn't know what treats were, he wouldn't eat carrots or apples or anything that didn't resemble grain. - he is allergic to dust, so I essentially have a horse that's allergic to outside!

Nick

Nick is a 20 year old registered quarter horse. His birthday is May19, 2006 (that's a FTRA day) so be sure to give him extra loving on his birthday! His registered name is Genuine Pepinic, hence Nick. His owner purchased him from a friend 10 years ago.

Nick is a bay, with brown body and black legs, mane and tail, and is 15hh.
He also has a dorsal stripe, which is a black stripe down his back.

His owner, Susan L., tells us that he is missing a front tooth, lost somehow when he was young, but that it doesn't affect his eating, and he loves the green grass in his pasture.  He also knows their tractor and runs to it, especially when it brings his food. He loves licorice nibs, and he gets his medicine in one each day.

He loves the attention at Therapeutic riding and loves all the children.
He's also great at rounding up cattle and trail riding in the mountains.
